Journal #31

Thumbalina was in a tight spot. She had quite a serious problem, a bad situation if you will. Thumbalina was supposed to give a speech to her Honors English class, and she had been planning on writing it the night before. However, that did not actually work out; she got a little too caught up in facebook and ended up just not doing her work. So there she was, sitting in Physics, trying to figure out what to do. She needed to come up with some kind of creative speech, but she had no idea what to do! It had to be fifteen minutes long, and she was really just freaking out. Defeated, she laid her head down on her desk. It really did not matter that she was not paying attention in Physics; no one ever knows what is going on in that class anyway.

As she closed her eyes, the voice of the Physics teacher began to drift away, and a vision of sugar plum fairies instead granted her vision. Fairies danced around sugary plantation looking things, while strange little men with striped colorful canes hopped to and fro throughout a forest. Mystical, beautiful creatures roared in the pink and orange sunset. It was really quite odd because it was like seeing many different settings at one time; all Thumbalina had to do was turn her head. It was magical and mystical and captivating. It was almost like a mix between Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice and Wonderland, The Wizard of Oz, and Katy Perry's music video for "California Gurls." It was wonderful! As Thumbalina ran around the bright and colorful forest in delight, she met many interesting creatures and made new friends. It was the most amazing experience of her life.

"Thumbalina!" Thumbalina shot her head straight up from her desk. "Would you care to tell us the answer?" Thumbalina skeptically looked at her notes, where the only indication of her being in class whatsoever that day was the date in the upper right hand corner and a small smudge of drool. "Uh, no thanks," Thumbalina said tentatively. She felt a tad bit stupid; everyone was laughing at her. Then, all of a sudden, she had an epiphany. Maybe she had just looked like a fool in Physics, but she now had her story for English!
